The toolkit provides guidance for Brighton & Hove schools and other education settings on supporting trans and gender-exploring children and young people. It recommends an individualised, inclusive approach that protects privacy, prevents bullying and considers the needs and rights of all pupils.

Recommendation
Schools should use the toolkit as non-prescriptive guidance, develop inclusive equality and anti-bullying policies, provide appropriate staff and governor training, support individual pupils on a case-by-case basis, protect confidentiality, and seek professional advice where needed.
